Lucy, 10-year-old Female Rottweiler

After 10 years together, Lucy has been surrendered by her owner, who sadly had to sell his house due to interest rate rises.  Accommodation where Lucy was permitted to stay could not be found.  This is how she ended up with Melbourne Dog Rescue.

She is a lovely old girl, who has plenty of character, has basic obedience training, and loves her walks.  She is quite gentle, has been around children, and gets on well with most other dogs (she is a dominant female).  She is still “with it”, and has lots of life left in her; she will make a great companion for anyone - Older or Younger, families or singles.

Lucy has scoured her foster carer’s back yard for all the puppy toys, and has a nice collection of them in her bed and will play with them for a good hour.  It’s almost like she has her second wind, she plays with -and puts up with- her foster carers puppy with no problems at all.

Lucy has a wonderfully funny personality she reminds us of a cuddle bear - she will do anything for a belly rub, or to have her ears scratched, and she is quite partial to a massage.

She bounces on her front legs while sitting, when she gets excited (usually at walk or dinnertime)
For the first time Lucy sleeps indoors, and has found out just how comfy a queen size bed is, once she is on, good luck getting her off - she thinks she is in heaven.

Lucy needs to lose about 10kg. While we are working on this while she is in foster care - her adoptive family will have to keep an eye on how much she eats - She is great at tricking you into believing she is starving.

Adoption Fee $150

Where do all the dogs end up in Victoria?     Click here for a list of what happens to your dog after it has had its 8 days at the pound.   Your dog may have gone straight to one of these shelters or be put to sleep after its 8 days.    As you will note, most of the dogs end up at the RSPCA and the Lost Dogs Home .   Please be aware that these are both Kill shelters. If you happen to lose  or surrender your dog and it does not past the extremely strict rehoming tests that these shelters use, then chances are it will be put to sleep.  Please microchip your dog and keep all information up to date.  Please desex  your dogs because this will stop them from roaming.    Please click here for some useful information on finding your dog .

Remember not all shelters advertise their dogs online. It's best to visit them regularly. Don't give up searching the shelters and pounds. There are MANY beautiful Rottweilers that are desperate for forever home.
