Who wants the big black dog?
Sadly the majority of Rottweilers get over looked in adoption pens. A big thank you to those who had the heart to adopt one of these beautiful creatures. Please send in your success stories by clicking here.
Alot of Rottweilers are destroyed for no other reason than that their owner gave up on them. I urge you as Rottweiler breeders to have a life time commitment to your puppies. Have a spaying contract or better still spay them before they go into their new homes (this is possible and many shelters across Australia do this before rehoming a puppy). Make sure all your puppy buyers have your details so if they can not care for their puppy anymore they can return it to you and then you can find a home for them. Why not offer to pay for the spaying as an excellent incentive? As for the backyard breeders out there, please think of the consequences of your "quick buck" you are making from selling your puppies to strangers that you probably haven't screened at all. With so many Rottweilers being destroyed each week, please think twice about breeding that litter.
For a reality check of what actually happens in some shelters and pounds across Australia, please click herewww.operationtoby.com/ThanklessJob.pdf Please don't think that this doesn't happen in Australia because it does. It's happening right now. Thousands of dogs are being destroyed across Australia this week. Remember to register and microchip your dog. Thanks to operation Toby for featuring it on their website , that link again www.operationtoby.com/ThanklessJob.pdf
Are you curious where all the dogs end up? Here is what we do in Victoria - Click here for a list of what happens to your dog after it has had its 8 days at the pound. Your dog may have gone straight to one of these shelters or be put to sleep after its 8 days. As you will note, most of the dogs end up at the RSPCA and the Lost Dogs Home . Please be aware that these are both Kill shelters. If you happen to lose or surrender your dog and it does not past the extremely strict rehoming tests that these shelters use, then chances are it will be put to sleep. Please microchip your dog and keep all information up to date. Please desex your dogs because this will stop them from roaming. Please click here for some useful information on finding your dog .
Site information
Please note that this site has been set up to assist you in locating a Rottweiler that is in need of adoption across Australia. This website is not always up to date and not all Rottweilers are listed that are available at shelters and pounds across Australia. It is best to contact the shelter or pound directly if you are interested in rescuing a Rottweiler. I have provided an extensive list of shelters and pounds across Australia so you can search yourself. The links are located under each different state.
Thank you for visiting this website. I hope it encourages you to rescue a Rottweiler or foster one if you can not commit to a dog for life.
